Highlights from Downtown L.A. Trip During Spring 2019
Grand Central Market
Our first stop of the day was to Grand Central Market. We went to Egg Slut to have breakfast for lunch. My friend really didn’t like her sandwich because it was loaded with sauce. However, I thought the Fairfax was REALLY good. Afterwards, I had more fish tacos at La Tostaderia. The market is open air and it’s fun to just walk around and people watch while you sample everything.
Egg Slut
3 stars: I ordered the FAIRFAX sandwich which has cage-free soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun.
La Tostaderia- Authentic Mexican Seafood
4 stars: I got several fish tacos here that were amazing. I highly recommend this spot. The fish was cooked to perfection and their handmade tostadas were delicious.
Bradbury Building
I studied interior architecture in school and seeing pictures of this beautiful building in books and movies still doesn’t do it justice. The details on the iron railing and elevator are so ornate I could only think to myself that people would never spend this type of money today on ornamentation for a public building.
Walt Disney Concert Hall
We weren’t able to go into the concert hall because they were throwing a private party the day we were there unfortunately. But from the outside it was just as spectacular as I’d imagined it would be.
Little Tokyo
In Little Tokyo, I mainly went into a bakery and boutique that sold cosmetics and skincare products. If we’d had more time I would have had some ramen but considering our super packed day we just did a walkthrough of the Japanese Village Plaza which was quick beautiful. The sweet bun that I had and green tea though was delicious. I bought a bunch of Hello Kitty Sheet masks, one of them was a Zombie Hello Kitty which totally made my day.
MOCA GEFFEN
Barbara Kruger
The main reason I wanted to visit the Geffen was because of the Barbara Kruger mural on the outside of the building but I was so impressed with the two exhibits that were there at the time.
Both were female artists whom I had not heard of before.
Laura Owens
LAPD Building/Parker Center
This civic building in my opinion is quiet amazing. Not only is a very modern and modular but the landscaping is all done with nature plants and succulents. If only all police departments could be so impressive.
